Certification Needed Become Firefighter

A Sugar Grove, Illinois resident, Daniel Ahasic graduated from Southern University Illinois, where he obtained a bachelor of science in aviation. Daniel Ahasic is currently a firefighter and paramedic at the Aurora Fire Department in Illinois.

Firefighting is one of the most dangerous jobs in the world as firefighters risk their lives every day to save people. Saving people can include a wide range of services as they can save them from burning buildings or houses and extinguish the fire that can damage everything in an area. They can also participate in rescues and traffic incidents. A firefighter needs to have good physical fitness, good integrity and courage, and dedication to help.

There are several ways in which people can become firefighters in the US. One is by becoming a volunteer for the fire department and jumping through the rankings. People can also obtain a certificate in fire science which can take up to a year or an associate degree in fire science which can take up to two years.

People that want to become firefighters also need to receive a certification to become an emergency medical technician as that is a mandatory certification in the US.
